Gamers are rarely shy about making themselves heard when they don't like something. And the longer the franchise has been going, the more zealous its fans are. Good god did Nintendo find that out in 2019!

Remember when there were only 151 Pokémon? Well, now there are over a thousand, and in the most modern Pokémon games, every one of them has to be animated in unique ways for every possible scenario they can be used in. Even for Nintendo, that's a big undertaking.

Still, when it announced that Pokémon Sword and Shield would be released with only a fraction of the series' Pokémon available, fans went absolutely ballistic.

So overblown was this outcry that an online campaign named 'Dexit' was formed to boycott the games until something was done.

Now, Nintendo aren't a company to scare easily, but despite this, they did make it clear that they had taken these complaints on board. Eventually.

The games' two expansions, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, each added over 100 returning Pokémon, as well as a selection of new regional variants of Pokémon native to the Galar region.

And thankfully, that shut everyone up. For now...
