10 Biggest Video Game Complaints FIXED In DLC

7. Too Linear - Dark Souls II: The Lost Crowns (2014)

The Dark Souls series may be critically beloved as a whole, but Dark Souls II wasn't exactly welcomed with open arms by fans at the time of its release. Graphical downgrades, poor boss fights and nonsensical environmental layouts were just some of the gripes people had with the supposed successor to FromSoftware's magnum opus.

But what ruffled more feathers than most of the game's other issues was the linearity of its level design - an undeniable step backwards from the multilayered branching mazes of the first Dark Souls.

It was therefore up to the game's three DLC packs, collectively known as The Lost Crowns, to change all that. And, lucky for us, that's just what it did.

Each of these huge maps makes use of the classic FromSoftware level design once again, but where you really notice it is in the last of the three DLCs, Crown of the Ivory King.

The area of Eleum Loyce has an amazing verticality to its design, and the blocked pathways that open for you to later return to is a telltale indication of the Metroidvania style that made the series famous to begin with.
