Not to get caught in too much of a ruckus, but there are a few home truths that need to be said about Destiny, because for all the things it does very well, we need to face up to the fact that it's a 500 million dollar video game, released to a rabid and loyal fanbase, with the sole intention being to sell additional content back to the consumer over the next few years. We always get rather annoyed at any other property or developer when they do this - Bioware got it right in the neck after Mass Effect 3 - but somehow Bungie have managed to emerge rather unscathed. Take one quick glance at the promotional materials and you'll see cutscenes that weren't actually in the game, along with flat-out lies from the designers purporting to how 'every gun would have a story' alongside alluding to a gigantic world to explore that ended up as just four relatively small areas. Back to that budget though. It's the most expensive title in not just gaming but entertainment history, and aside from some incredibly proficient shooting mechanics there's a wealth of off-putting elements like the terrible voice-acting, dire story, half-baked multiplayer voiceover, lack of maps, and the reliance that blind-faith gamers will wring as much content as possible out of it regardless.
