8. Mortal Kombat 11's Launch State

Mortal Kombat 11 is one of the best fighting games of the generation and that can't be denied. It's also had one of the roughest launches too.

The main problem came from the huge grind that the game forced you into. To get loot to customise your character you needed to earn lots of coins to spend in the Krypt.

The best way to do this was by contesting against the Towers of Time, a mode that had you fighting opponents with stat buffs that made it almost impossible to win.

It got to the point where your best bet was to let the computer play, or give in to the game's microtransactions system. Big shocker there.

Oh, and did we mention that nearly all loot in the Krypt is randomised? Yeah, it's safe to say that Mortal Kombat 11 was pretty brutal to get into.

Things are starting to look better a few months later, but it'd be a lie to say that this didn't hurt the game a whole bunch.
