10 Biggest Video Game Controversies Of 2019 (So Far)
3. Microtransactions Continue To Take Over
Considering the massive fuss we all kicked up about microtransactions in Battlefront II, you'd expect there to be some sort of improvement.
If anything, things are seemingly getting worse. Almost every triple-A game out there has some sort of purchasable goods in it, ranging from skins to cheat codes and more. It's rare for a game to release that actually feels complete.
With the Government cracking down on gambling in video-games, publishers are finding slier ways to include them in games. All this means is that it's going to get harder to fight against them.
One of the worst examples of this is with Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled. Despite being a perfect remake of an amazing game, it's almost completely ruined by predatory microtransactions that were added after the game launched in order to avoid controversy. Skins can cost up to $10, and that's disgusting for a kid's game.
Fighting against publishers and microtransactions is becoming more and more of a losing battle.
