The beat-em-up genre of video games hasn't been genuinely alive since way back in the 90s. Shredder's Revenge, however, is one of those once-a-year games that brings back this classic style of games in a significant way.

Like in the arcade games, you can play as Leonardo, Donatello, and the rest of the Ninja Turtles. Except now, you can also play as April O'Neill, Splinter, and even Casey Jones.

The music is just as exciting as it used to be, stages are highly colorful and vibrant, and each character feels unique in their play style while also being simple enough that anybody can pick up and play.

It’s clear from every frame that the developers are huge fans of the classic titles, taking the original quarter-devouring arcade cabinet and turning it into a much more modern, more skillful version of the same while keeping with its button-mashing roots.

The originals are still the classics that defined the genre, but Shredder’s Revenge is the best Ninja Turtles game since then and easily one of the best modern beat-em-ups.
