10 Biggest Video Game Time Sinks

8. Pokemon Gold And Silver

Gotta catch 'em all! Seriously, I can't stop playing this damn game until I catch them all! Pokemon has always been an addictive franchise. The only evidence you need is to look at any park in summer and see dozens of nerds running around with their phones playing Pokemon Go.

While the Niantic mobile game is admittedly addictive, Pokemon Gold and Silver is perhaps the series' high point. Refining what had come before in Pokemon Red and Blue, it introduced a slew of excellent new creatures to catch and a lovable world in the Johto region.

Later generations of Pokemon brought in ridiculous monsters based on ice creams, sets of keys and literal bags of rubbish, but with a few exceptions (looking at you, Dunsparce), Gen 2 was uniformly excellent.

Between hunting for exciting new critters, searching for secret locations and doing battle with gym leaders like Chuck and Jasmine, it's easy to lose track of time, and only realise how long you've been playing for when it gets so dark you can barely see your Gameboy's screen.
