As Batman's packed away into a truck to be delivered to Arkham Asylum, he suffers another hallucination where he clobbers a group of Jokers and breaks his one rule - he finally takes a life. It's a shocking moment for sure, and although it was only a vision, the scene effectively conveyed the dark thoughts the Caped Crusader wrestles with every time he puts on a mask - after all, why shouldn't he just end the problem once and for all? And has the Joker finally won by infecting his mind to such an extent that Bruce is consumed by evil? This battle of wills is concluded as Batman finally overcomes the Joker's influence on his mind, but not before Scarecrow unmasks the Dark Knight in front of thousands of Gothamites, dragging Bruce Wayne into the spotlight for all the world to see. Rocksteady had said they weren't looking to compromise anything as they brought the series to an end, and they weren't kidding. By unmasking the Dark Knight, they've broken down the myth behind the man and whittled the legend of the Batman down to it's very core - the story of a man who's given up every last fiber of his being to protect his city.
