10 Biggest WTF Moments In Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth
2. The Final Boss
Sidequest shenanigans aside, once the finale gets going Square-Enix pull out all the stops to ensure a suitably bizarr(o) climax to Rebirth's wild ride. And as that pun not-so-subtly insinuated, FF7's Bizarro Sephiroth takes on the role of Rebirth's final boss, with the fight against him likely to go down as 2024's most epic boss battle.
The battle against Bizarro Sephiroth proves to be a perfect summation of Rebirth's ludicrously maximalist take on the original source material. Whereas the original FF7 simply had the party split into separate groups to attack the titanic monster from three different angles, Rebirth's version of the fight sees the game's protagonists split into three separate realities.
As the fight progresses, Rebirth yanks you across time and space to attack the mutated Sephiroth across multiple dimensions. Each stage gets more ludicrous than the last - there's a 30-second tribute to Shadow of the Colossus, seemingly thrown in for the sheer hell of it - and it all comes to a head with an enjoyably tense duel between Sephiroth, Cloud and a newly resurrected Aerith.
Which brings us to Rebirth's biggest WTF moment...
