4. Tali Commits Suicide

Mass Effect 3 has many moments that are determined by the choices you made leading up to that point, and one of the biggest comes when Shepard attempts to resolve the conflict between the Geth and Quarians in preparation for the oncoming war with the Reapers.

While it is possible to end the war with no personal casualties other than Legion, depending on your paragon/renegade levels and which side you take, the Quarians can be completely wiped out by the Geth. If this happens, Tali, one of your closest friends, will be so distraught by the loss of her people that she will throw herself off a cliff, which, if you're not prepared for, can be emotionally devastating, especially if your Shepard was romancing her.

The suddenness in the way in which it happens makes it all the more shocking. One minute she's a part of your squad, a character that has been with you from the very beginning, and the next minute she's gone. It pulls no punches, leaving a hole in the Normandy that can never be filled.
