10 Biggest WTF Moments In Mass Effect History
3. Shepard Vs. Shepard
The Citadel DLC was Bioware's final goodbye to the Mass Effect trilogy, and for the last hurrah, they went all out to provide as much fan service as possible; bringing back favorite characters, focusing on witty banter, and overall just having a good time.
The main quest seems straightforward enough, but things take a bizarre turn when you discover the big bad of the DLC is an exact clone of Shepard. This evil Shepard wants the real Shepard dead so he can take his place and do evil things. Yes, it's as ridiculously silly as it sounds, so much so that it's kind of unbelievable that a part of the same game opens with a child getting blown to smithereens in front of Shepard's eyes.
But it does provide a solid, much needed laugh after the sour note the core game ended on. It's pure fan fiction at best, and Bioware knows this, so they sprinkled in all kinds of call backs and references to prior games to keep the hardcore fans amused from beginning to end.
