10 Bleak Game Over Screens That Crushed You

5. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Often considered the dark horse of The Legend Of Zelda franchise, Majora's Mask has maintained a massive following nearly two decades after its release.

Taking a hard left turn, Nintendo's follow-up to its legendary predecessor. took a turn for the strange in 2000. Set in the sinister land of Termina, it's up to Link to prevent the apocalypse while staying one step of ahead of a ticking timer.

Across both the main quests and side quests, the player forms a strong connection with the inhabitants of this world and with only three days to save it, there's a constant pressure to hurry along. Using the returning Ocarina of Time can only get you so far as it also resets much of your previous efforts as well as the world's state.

Did you run out of time to stop the evil moon? You get to see it land and crush the land of Termina. In addition to the moon being especially creepy, you'll watch the three giants desperately try to hold it up, only to fail.

The explosion crushes the land and explodes Link along with it. When compared with previous game over screens, the one in Majora's Mask is by far the darkest of the franchise.
