Betrayal games might not seem like the best choice when considering games to play in close confinements but I can only say that in my experience games like Dead Of Winter, Betrayal At The House On The Hill and of course The Thing have been some of the best times I've had playing board games. Period.
The Thing takes the cake for me because quite frankly it's a work of art, which was in no small part one of the main objectives for clothing company Mondo when they made this game. From the board to the fantastically designed player pieces, everything feels like it belongs to John Carpenters 80's classic. The premise is quite simple, find objects to help you move through the facility, complete mini missions as a group and then select a captain to lead you out to the helicopter and escape. Sounds simple right?
Well depending on the group size one or two of you will be assimilated and working against the rest of the team. Sabotaging missions, submitting bad cards and passing blame on to others will become second nature as you try to make sure you're one of the ones taken on that lovely air trip back to civilisation. You might end up screaming at each other as it goes on, but trust me you'll laugh when you finally found out who the Thing really was.
