10 Bold Gaming Predictions For 2015

4. Indie Developers Will Continue Making Breakthroughs...

The Kickstarter phenomenon is a sort of microcosm of something that's happening in wider gaming culture. Steam have helped a lot, too, with PC gaming going from strength to strength and offering a market place for titles you might not come across otherwise. The Humble Bundle and its children have also lent a hand to allowing developers to do cool new things with games. Which, of course, are the sorts of games that hardcore gamers have spent the last couple of years attempting to describe as anything but games, because they don't involve shooting people or solving puzzles, which are of course the only two genres of games. Gone Home and Dear Esther took interactive narratives in a whole new way, and Proteus is...well, Proteus. The developers of Gone Home and Dear Esther have new games out in 2015, and their lead is likely to be followed by other young start ups who realise you can do something else in games besides shooting people or solving puzzles. Camp Santo's first title Firewatch looks like one to watch. Ahem.
