Take a look at the pile of unplayed games sat next to your console, and then take a look at the same in your Steam library. Chances are it doesn't even compare. After a good decade or so of doom-and-gloom reports that the PC gaming market is slowly dying it appears that the opposite is true: more and more people are playing games on their computers. So where does that leave the PS4, the Xbox One, and the WiiU? Not that anyone plays the latter anyway... 2015 is the year the consoles make their big push not just as gaming platforms but as entertainment systems. It's the year that the original programming both Microsoft and Sony have funded will be premiering, with a live-action Halo series for the former and an adaptation of superhero crime drama Powers starring him out of District 9 for the latter. You'll be playing less games on your consoles, and they're prepared for that. The other place people are going to keep playing games are on their phones. In fact, there's a good chance that this year will be the one where mobile gaming finally overtakes all other forms as the most popular form of digital play. Regardless of your opinion of the Angry Birds generation, it's a bloody huge market.
