10 Bold Predictions For The New Gaming Generation
1. Half-Life 3 FINALLY Gets Released
But finally, it doesn't get any braver than speculating on the possible existence of Half-Life 3.
In any other year, earnestly talking about the prospect of Valve finally dropping the long-awaited FPS would seem naive or foolish, but given that the company released their full-fat VR game Half-Life: Alyx earlier this year, all bets are off.
Considering the universal critical acclaim for Alyx and the tantalising narrative threads it sets up for future Half-Life titles, the chances are better than they have been for years that, indeed, we will see a true successor to Half-Life 2 this generation.
While it's possible we'll first get a VR follow-up to Alyx, sooner or later Valve are surely going to satisfy the franchise's more mainstream demands.
Perhaps the more believable yet undeniably challenging step would be to make Half-Life 3 playable both as a regular "flat" game and a VR title.
Either way, don't be too surprised if Half-Life 3 actually ends up being announced sometime over the next seven or eight years. For the first time in many, many years, it really feels like it could happen.
