10 Brain Bending Video Game Puzzles That Will Drive You Insane
9. Superliminal
Superliminal is a real mind-f**k. The premise seems awesome, at first. Manipulate perspective to influence the physics of your world. Place the soda can at the end of the hall, and it increases in size. Perception, after all, is everything. The human brain has evolved over millions of years in order to understand perspective intuitively. We know without having to reason that an object is far away, rather than small. The villages, towns, and cities that we live in are filled with architecture that serves as a testament to this advantage. An advantage that is stripped away the moment you step into the world of Superliminal.
The entire game is a puzzle in itself, you spend a good portion of your time in the Superliminal world simply trying to work out what you're supposed to be doing. The further you advance (if it is, indeed advancing), the less clarity you enjoy. It's like swimming away from land until you can see nothing but murky ocean in every direction you look.
Spend more than a few hours in Superliminal, and you'll find yourself turning off the game and heading for a darkened room for a lie-down and a gentle cry. With luck, your sanity may return.
