The world of Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher series is absolutely massive in scope. Spanning various realms each full of their own intrigue, magic, and monsters, the series made for an ideal foundation for a video game adaptation - an adaptation that Polish developers CD Projekt Red took and ran away with to spectacular effect, with 2015's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt breaking new ground in the RPG genre.

Winning numerous awards including Game Of The Year, Geralt's monster-slaying expedition took players across expansive areas with more richly written and intricate quests to complete than we could ask for. In order for the game to sound as big as it was, we can thank the game's composer and music director Marcin Przybylowicz for his accomplishments.

Alongside recording the main themes with the Brandenburg State Orchestra, Przybylowicz also brought in folk musicians from the Polish band Percival. Mostly self-taught, they added traditional instruments like the lute, hurdy-gurdy, and bowed gusle to an already rich score that helped give the music a more authentic and distinctive flavour.

If you haven't sampled this what this superb soundtrack has to offer, tracks like 'The Trail', 'Farwell, Old Friend', and 'Conjugation Of The Spheres' aren't a bad place to start.
