10 Brilliant Sequels That Saved Dying Video Game Franchises

7. Stuntman: Ignition

Stuntman was a criminally underrated addition to the PS library, but it was more than fair that many weren't about it for one crucial reason: it was hard as nails.

Calling something "the Dark Souls of" a certain genre is now painfully overused, but it's safe to say that Stuntman was harder than whatever the Dark Souls of driving games would be. It's the angry older brother of Dark Souls, that comes round your house to beat you up when you steal Dark Souls' lunch money.

On the plus side, this meant the sequel - Stuntman: Ignition - had a pretty easy fix to make in order to sort the franchise out. By making the game less devilishly hard, all the fun and chaos of it stood out without punishing players with an agonising amount of replays to get the job done.

Plus, they got to add an extra cool word to the title, which is never a bad thing.
