10 Brutally Hard Decisions Video Games Forced You To Make

4. Choosing How To Torture An Innocent Man - GTA V

An interview back in 2013 when GTA V first dropped had a member of Rockstar note that if you thought Trevor's torture segment was too strong, you always had the option to "turn the game off." Personally though, if you have to choose to disengage with a given thing to get a desired response, I'd say that product has failed in its delivery.

Regardless, this scene went on to define GTA V, not because you had the option to skip the scene or fight against the people asking you to perform it, but because the only choice present is "What weapon do you want to use?" The bottom line is supposed to be a comment on American foreign policy, or just how ineffective forcing someone to say something really is, but it's lost under the miasma of dark undertones that make the entire scene feel completely disgusting.

Trevor is hardly an arbiter for moral sanctity, so when it's him delivering a speech about how torture is just a way for those enacting it to enjoy themselves rather than 'doing what's necessary', it gets lost under the horror of being forced to play through it in the first place.
