6. Faith and a .45
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6evhLp20FKw With a vibe that totally reminded us of No One Lives Forever, Faith and a .45 not only had a catchy title, but a brilliant co-op concept that caught our attention; you play as Ruby and Luke, action heroes and love interests who are on the run from a crazy oil baron during the Great Depression, and much of the appeal of the title was how players could switch between characters. Also, there was reportedly an option to provide the "kiss of life" to your wounded lover, a relatively simple concept given an ingenious little spin. However, it all went down the tubes when Deadline Games suffered financial straits and dissolved, dragging this game down into the abyss with them. Development had apparently gotten pretty far, going by the impressive clip above, and the confirmation that co-op had already been planned. It's a shame as this looked like an absolute cracker; silly fun that doesn't take itself a touch too seriously.
