10 Cancelled Video Games That Would Have Been Awesome

4. Resident Evil 4 (2003) (Gamecube)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J7_8irvZp8 I know you're thinking €œThis author is a moron." Well, that may be true. However, I'm not talking about the version of Resident Evil 4 we all know and love. You may not know that prior to being released and praised as one of the greatest video games ever made, Resident Evil 4 went through some changes: A lot of changes. Interviews with the development team at Capcom report that around three separate games were developed under the 'Resident Evil 4' moniker. The one I'm describing was the second iteration, the final prototype to feature the dark atmospheric horror the series had become known for. Shinki Mikami decided another change was needed and dropped the creepy haunted house style for the more frantic action seen in the final release. As you can see in the embedded video, many of the elements that made it into the final game are still present in this early version. The only notable difference being fixed camera angles and creeping as hell possessed dolls. Resident Evil 4 (the real one) is a seminal title and one that should be played by anyone with an interest in gaming. Yet, we can't help but wonder what might have been had the series stuck with its original themes.
