10 Celebrities Who Ruined Their Own Video Games

3. Arnold Schwarzenegger - Last Action Hero

With the popularity of the NES and SNES, Arnold Schwarzenegger movies seemed like the perfect licences to adapt into video games. The guns, gore and overblown action sequences of his films seemed perfect for the new era of console gaming, especially since franchises such as Contra proved how popular the 80s action genre can be.

To tie-in with the release of his new movie in 1993, Sony Imagesoft developed a Last Action Hero game to be released alongside the movie. However, it seemed that Schwarzenegger suddenly developed problems with the fact that his video game characters carried guns, possibly due to concerns about his reputation as a public figure. As a result, he told Nintendo that he didn’t want his character holding or firing guns in any of his tie-in SNES games.

Due to the fact that he’s famous for playing a gun-toting badass, this was a very bizarre demand. It meant that his games couldn’t capture the feel of the original movies. It’s a real shame because with its silly, over-the-top plot Last Action Hero could’ve made the perfect SNES action game, but Schwarzenegger stopped that from happening.
