5. Fable 3 - Paying Off The Evil

Fable has always been a bit of a quirky series. A light-hearted take on the fantasy genre, it's still managed to mess around with moral choices and consequence throughout.

Which is why it was somewhat funny when the third game gave you the option to "pay off the final boss", as it were. Long story short; big evil roaming land, ultimatum is let it destroy half of your kingdom or pay it a massively large some of money.

It sounds pretty straightforward and binary, yet the catch is that the player is on a time limit. If, and it's a big if, you knew it was coming and had the foresight to save ahead, then it's slightly more enjoyable.

To the unsuspecting, though, it is a ridiculous amount to cough up to keep the evil at bay in such a short time. Worse still, the game will catch you out if you try and accrue money without letting the time pass, making it completely pointless in the end.

On the bright side... at least the kingdom will be slightly quieter with less noisy people around.
