4. Red Dead Redemption 2 - Going For Gold(s)

Rockstar, for all their faults, can write a good story. Red Dead Redemption 2, 2018's prequel Western hit, is one of rich and detailed world and narrative.

As such, it should be played naturally, and not rushed. Living out Arthur Morgan's journey is something to take in stride, however missions play out.

So when players think they've done well in a shootout, or a robbery, it's discouraging to see a bronze medal reward at the end. It's even more disheartening to see what the requirements for gold are at times.

A lot of it boils down to speedrunning, effectively. But to rinse through missions is a massive waste of the world that Rockstar have built, but that's not all.

It's also finickity to control in a rush, nor is Arthur built like a tank. Which makes it a rigmarole to die, restart, load a cutscene, then hope for the best.

The game also doesn't tell you the requirement(s) the first time you play it. So, the fact that players will have to do every mission at least twice to gain gold just taints the whole thing.
