4. Bomberman
Again not a specifically Nintendo property, but if you have memories of Bomberman from your childhood, odds are you were holding a SNES controller in your hands. He's since fallen on hard times with reinterpretations of his games being dismal examples of how not to modernise a game series and simple re-releases of former glory grazing the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade scenes. He surely can't not fit into a Smash title. He has a Nintendo-like cartoon appearance to go along with different bomb mechanics to form an array of attacks. Being entirely bomb based might make him seem limited, but in reality you can work a range of mechanics that are from the series' history. Drop bombs. Throw bombs. Set bombs. What type of bombs? Timer bombs. Fire bombs. Ice bombs. Cherry bombs. Smash Bros. needs more bombs and I know just the man for the job.
