10 Characters Who KNEW They Were In Video Games

Featuring in Kid Icarus: Uprising, a sequel to Kid Icarus, both Pit and Lady Palutena get as cheeky as Deadpool in their 3DS title. A lot of the nods to their knowledge of being in a game are given directly through dialogue, for example when Pit asks Palutena, “Who is this Icarus character this game is named after? Can I meet him?”

Pit will go on to reference the prior title with the line, “She was a pain 25 years ago.” in regard to his debrief of Medusa. If that reference wasn’t enough, Palutena also confesses her knowledge of the famous competitive fighter, Super Bash Sisters. Nintendo sure do love patting themselves on the back.

It continues though. As if referencing your own game wasn’t proof enough, Pit will speak on the controls as if he’s the one using them, tapping, pushing buttons, and so on. He’ll also critique the game design, claiming that his stamina bar is simply a measure to make sure he doesn’t sprint past every enemy. That Pit is a bright kid, I tell you.
