10 Classic Movies That Should Have Been Video Games
1. Seven Samurai
Akira Kurosawas masterpiece is a staple of cinema. The movie concerns the efforts of the eponymous seven samurai to fend off a small army of bandits terrorizing a local town. The first three-fourths of the movie are slow buildupsprinkled with some action sequences here and therefollowed by an exhilarating showdown between the bandits and the samurai. But how would that much buildup and so little action translate to a video game? How to do it: During the production of the movie, Kurosawa kept six notebooks filled with biographies about each of the characters and minute details about them. Theres a wealth of story there that could probably be used to create a game with a Witcher 2/Assassins Creed combat system. Set up a frame story with the characters swapping tales of their exploits with each story forming the basis for a level or series of levels. Throw in well-designed tower defense gameplay sequences for when the Samurai are defending the village, and you have potential for a worthy video game adaptation of one of the greatest films ever made.
