2. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Submarines! Gentlemen and brutes! Giant squids! How hasnt an engrossing video game adaptation of this live-action Disney classic been made yet?
How to do it: Look to the latest iteration of Sid Meiers Pirates! for inspiration. Keep the map-sailing as 20,000 Leagues method of exploration, but scrap the naval battles and replace them with underwater missions: explore the mysteries of the deep in those badass diving suits, go in search of sunken treasure, work to get the submarine unstuck from a coral reef, punch sharks. This game would have to culminate with a boss battle against that infamous giant squid where your only weapon is a harpoon. Otherwise, what's the point?
