10 Classic Movies That Should Have Been Video Games

5. Cloverfield

The J.J. Abrams€™ produced horror thriller about a group of twenty-somethings trying to survive an attack on New York by monsters of an unknown origin is an interesting if somewhat flawed and (sometimes literally) nauseating take on the classic monster invasion genre. It€™s also a movie that would make a hell of a game with the right set-up. How to do it: Create a hybrid of Dead Island and Disaster Report. Disaster Report, a game released for the Playstation 2 in 2002, concerns the efforts of one reporter to navigate a city damaged by a powerful earthquake. The gameplay, which has you using water bottles to prevent the protagonist from getting dehydrated and losing health while climbing around the wreckage of the city, would be an ideal design choice to implement in the adaptation of Cloverfield. Your group of characters would not only have terrifying monsters to contend with but also an environment that€™s falling apart before their eyes. It would probably be unwise to revisit the same characters of the film, so a new story with new survivors would be crafted€”a protagonist looking to find his or her family/paramour. Throw in some Dead Island combat that allows the gamer to use prosaic objects to fend off the smaller beasties (like those creepy spider parasites) in order to keep them on their toes.
