10 Classic Movies That Should Have Been Video Games

6. Angel Heart

rourke-angel-heart Angel Heart (1987) is a hard-boiled detective/horror story about a private investigator named Harry Angel and his descent into the voodoo culture of New Orleans to find Johnny Favorite, a missing crooner wanted by Harry€™s customer, some creepy dude named Louis Cyphre . Angel Heart is a spooky, gruesome story about one man€™s grueling journey of self-discovery but, really, it€™s that Ménage à trios of horror, voodoo, and noir that creates a video game worthy setting. Plus, New Orleans is an intriguing locale that€™s only been used in a handful of games: Hitman: Blood Money, Infamous 2 (kind of), Left 4 Dead 2, and Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father. How to do it: Create a The Walking Dead/Gabriel Knight-esque adventure game that follows a new story and acts as a sequel/prequel to the film. Draw inspiration from voodoo horror films like The Skeleton Key. Embrace the city€™s culture and make it part of the story. That€™s one of the subtle achievements of The Walking Dead: constantly drawing the player€™s attention to the setting. Maybe it's just my bias speaking here, but the countryside sequences in TWD felt more realistic and effective than most of the intricate metropolitan settings featured in sandbox games. An Angel Heart game could probably accomplish the same goal with New Orleans.
