10 Classic Video Games Clocked In Ridiculous Speed-Runs

7. Half-Life

Half-Life is a PC gaming darling with fans clamouring in their millions urging Gabe Newell to get to work on the third instalment. No doubt he has, but you can join the line of rabid fans lining up to ask him the question on Reddit if a charity he supports raises $500k. Half-Life is a tough slog when playing on hard difficulty, but the experience, skill and knowledge of Valve's darling that Max 'coolkid' Lundberg has is astounding. Max holds the record for zipping through the crumbling Black Mesa in a 36min 58secs run which provides a consistent action packed secret filled experience for viewers. Achieved on 20th October 2010, it is the only run acknowledged by the Speed Demos Archive despite faster times appearing on YouTube by Spider-Waffle, presumably named after the breakfast of champions. The console record for Half-Life on hard difficulty stands at 1hr 6mins 6secs by Fabrizio 'Superfrizzio' Rossebastiano. The feat was recorded on 7th July 2012 on the PS2 version. Max's run has not been logged on YouTube but you can view the video in its entirety on the official website, along with a detailed rundown of tips and the challenges he faced.
