10 Classic Video Games That DON'T Hold Up

8. Twisted Metal 2

Whether we give this entry to Twisted Metal 2 or the original is a bit of a moot toss up since they were both developed by SingleTrac and came out just one year apart, in 1995 and 1996 respectively.

If these games defined your childhood then you’re not alone and there’s a good reason for that, there really wasn’t anything quite like it when it came out.

Both games were financial and critical successes praised for their level design and colourful characters. Even so, the games were criticised for looking super average when they came out. That’s right, these games looked bad for 1995 standards so you can just imagine how they must look now.

While we don’t want to understate the joy of chaotic vehicular combat fun or the revolutionary impact this game had on the industry, the camera will frustrate the heck out of modern gamers, the mechanics are a lot to get your head around, and I mentioned the graphics right? Yeah, this thing looks like microwaved garbage.

It’s one of those things you’d never notice at the time but now it’s impossible to ignore. There’s also not all that much to do which was cool when you were a kid and just wanted to drive the car and make the guns go but might not be as satisfying now.

Yet again a happy ending for old school fans of the game though because the PS3 remake was massively well received so that’s one to check out if the classic isn’t to your liking.
