10 Completely Shameless Video Game Rip-Offs

5. Sonic Shuffle - Mario Party

Not exactly a classic, but still a 100% bonafide rip off of the highest order. Mario Party was a great option when video games ruled get togethers with friends - awesome minigames that were very rarely repeated made for a level playing field and characters everyone recognised made for arguments over who'd be Mario and who'd be Peach...

Not quite the same with Sonic Shuffle, which for all intents and purposes, was a rip off of Mario Party for SEGA's ill-fated Dreamcast. Eight characters on offer, four had to be unlocked, and a few Sonic themed boards didn't exactly paint a picture for hours of enjoyment but it wasn't so bad really - just repetitive and clunky.

The worst part about this has to be SEGA misunderstanding their own property, as Chaos Emeralds are referred to as 'Precious Stones' alongside some unbearable loading screens that had never littered Sonic games in the past.

If you're going to take some 'creative license', at least do it well.
