If you have trouble with memorization or pattern recognition, especially when dealing with repetitive environments, then allow me to be the first to welcome you to your new personal hell: Super Mario Bros.' World 8-4.

World 8-4 is an infamous level among NES veterans, as unlike previous levels, it's one giant puzzle, rather than a linear dash to the goal. The trick is finding the right warp pipe to go into to find the exit. A lot of you have probably already figured out the issue here, but for those slower on the uptake: all the pipes look the bloody same!

You have to keep careful track of which pipe goes where, because if you forget even one, you run the risk of either missing the right pipe, or going down the wrong pipes multiple times.

While sharing the one mercy with Metroid of this being on the NES, and thus not being able to be nearly as complex as later iterations of this type of level puzzle, World 8-4 is still teeth-grindingly frustrating.
