10 Console Games That Will Probably Be Banned In China
7. Resident Evil 6 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)
Resident Evil 6, the nebulously-received main entry following the fondly-forgotten fifth African disaster, sets one of its three ridiculous stories in China. While the island of Lanshiang is fictitious, its neon stalls look remarkably like Shanghai. And on the streets we play as Chris Redfield - American soldier caricature extraordinaire - as he witnesses the destruction of the city from a virus-outbreak caused by bio-terrorism. Considering that China right now suffers from poor health controls, a game depicting a viral outbreak unable to be contained by the Chinese government that requires the intervention of an American-run military coalition, wouldn't be a reassuring message for its citizens. (Probable) Official Statement: Banned for "shaming the National Health and Family Planning Commission" and "abandoning its roots...being an unoriginal and formulaic action game."
