10 Controversial Ways Gamers Are Ruining Gaming

6. Disregarding Games On 'Enemy' Consoles

Console rivalry has always been symptomatic of the 'console wars' that have dominated the industry since Nintendo and Sega first butted heads in the '80s, but with the era of exclusives and dodgy third-party deals now in full swing, gamers have managed to reach new heights of petty behaviour once thought already peaked. Whilst we're still all lamenting the out-of-the-blue timed exclusivity deal regarding Square Enix and Microsoft, the amount of vitriol that was spewed at Crystal Dynamics (as if they were somehow responsible for negotiating a deal handled by their publisher) was just completely unjustified. Certain gamers will be missing out on Rise of the Tomb Raider based on this deal, sure, but just because you own a PlayStation doesn't mean you can't appreciate the effort put into Sunset Overdrive or Halo, and vice versa. The works of the 'enemy' can be analysed and learned from, not simply demonised right off the bat because they didn't get to your system first.
