10 Controversies That Have ALREADY Hurt Pokemon Sword & Shield

One of the most publicised controversies in the build up to Pokémon Sword and Shield has been surrounding the National Dex, affectionately known as Dexit.

Perhaps affectionately is the wrong word though, as this has riled the fanbase more than any other combined. Poor graphics; meh, Pokémon’s never been the prettiest game. Lack of animations; yeah, but what else is new?

The National Dex controversy flies in the face of Pokémon’s own tagline of ‘gotta catch ‘em all’ and goes against the spirit of the game.

The National Dex is the PokéDex for each region, containing only the Pokémon able to be caught in the wilds of that particular region. It was expected that Sword and Shield would be no different, but most people thought that they’d be able to transfer non-National Dex creatures into the game, possibly once you’ve beaten the main story.

However, Game Freak have confirmed that you won’t be able to, meaning players who’ve used their favourite Pokémon for years will be unable to add them here. Pokémon Home was supposed to solve problems like this, but while it will be supported, it faces restrictions, rendering it all a bit pointless.
