Can you even imagine the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series without the ability to see through walls, assess threats from a distance and plan your attack with sight beyond sight? Batman's Detective Vision is, in every sense, a complete lifesaver, providing a whole new dimension to the sheer intricacy of the Dark Knight's World's Greatest Detective title.

Its base function is to highlight the location of hostile characters, be it underground, inside buildings and even over radio communications. At the press of a button, players can sense the heartbeats, speech and sound waves from everyone around them, as well as power lines that stretch deep underground and out of sight.

Other modes include the crime scene scanner, which lets Batman virtually recreate past crimes and sift through them at will; the deep tissue scanner, allowing for multiple layers of increasing depths to scan victims with; and the environment scanner, extremely useful for calling the Riddler out on his riddles.

Face it, there's nothing in the Arkham games you used more than this. And on the rare occasions you're forced to forego it, you really start to feel like a fish out of water.
