10 Coolest Gadgets In Batman Video Games
3. Grapnel Gun
What is Batman without his trusty grappling hook? The cape and line launcher combo can only get him so far; when zipping up to roofs or swinging out of danger, there's only one gadget for the job.
The grapnel gun is featured in nearly all of Batman's comic, film and video game incarnations alike. A selection of earlier side-scrolling games make use of this device in a similar way to the Bionic Commando series, allowing the player to grapple up to ledges or ceilings that can't be reached by jumping alone.
In more modern game series, however, it's usually combined with gliding to offer a fast and dynamic way of navigating vast open worlds. The grapnel is a main component of the Arkham series, particularly useful when swinging between vantage points in predator challenges.
Arkham Knight pushes the boat out even further with a boost upgrade to the gun. If maxed out, swinging off a building will send Batman flying high up into the air, right towards his next grapple target.
