10 Craziest Video Game Myths (That Turned Out To Be True)

2. Michael Jackson Secretly Composed The Music For Sonic The Hedgehog 3

The rumour Michael Jackson was involved in the soundtrack for Sonic The Hedgehog 3 has been swirling around for years, ever since eager fans noticed the similarities between his music and some of the tracks in the game; for example, compare the game€™s end theme with Jackson€™s Stranger In Moscow.

For a long time, it was just a theory and Sega wasn€™'t saying either way, but the truth, it turns out, is needlessly complex. While it was later confirmed Jackson did come onto the game, key staff claimed his work was dropped and heavily altered following sex abuse allegations made against him in 1993. Yet people who worked with him on the game claimed Jackson actually completed the soundtrack, but he was unhappy with the sound quality of the Genesis and choose to stay uncredited.

That€™s the short version of events (believe me, it's way more complicated) but the end result is the same; Michael Jackson is the man responsible for Sonic 3's soundtrack.
