10 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy Metal Gear Solid

9. There Are Very Lengthy Cutscenes

Gaming's ever-growing cinematic-flair has made cutscenes an important narrative feature - some titles utilise them a lot more than others though. Metal Gear is one of the latter, and while many berate the series for this fact (Metal Gear Solid 4 in particular features infamously long cutscenes), it's a feature you're simply going to have to get used to. After all, Metal Gear Solid's story is incredibly complicated; if it were to be told mid-game, you'd miss most of it. Many of the series' cutscenes delve into lengthy historical detail, featuring archive footage of real-life events - without these, the story would lack a realistic feel. Yes, perhaps it might be tedious to sit through half hour long scenes at a time (especially if you're on a second playthrough) but long, detailed scenes have become a key feature of the franchise - many fans would miss them were they to be removed. Plus, Metal Gear Solid 4 has two Guinness World Records as a result of these cinematics (longest single cutscene and longest sequence of cutscenes) - and are you going to go round to Kojima's house and demand he gives those up? Didn't think so.
