10 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy Metal Gear Solid

4. Bandanas Give Infinite Ammo

Sometimes when you beat a video game, you'll be rewarded with an unlockable item which makes repeat playthroughs much easier - it's a fairly common feature. Metal Gear Solid is no exception; there's a multitude of items which are possible to unlock in this manner. The most infamous of these though is the Bandana which gives the player infinite ammo. Great, right? Gameplay wise, it makes perfect sense but for whatever reason, Kojima decided to incorporate the idea of bandanas magically gifting people infinite ammo into the series. Near the end of Metal Gear Solid 2, Snake tells Raiden that he will give him ammo if he's running low before pointing to his bandana and remarking that it gives him "infinite ammo". It's frankly pretty bizarre. Making a gameplay element like this canon throws up a whole bunch of weird questions about the mysterious nature of the Metal Gear universe. Why aren't these magical bandanas more common? How exactly does a bandana produce ammo infinitely? Why is Snake happy to explain his magical powers to anyone who will ask? Sometimes, it's just best not to go there.
