10 Crazy Sports Video Games That Didn’t Play By The Rules

8. NBA Street

NBA Street changed the way the classic 'rags-to-riches' sports video games were presented and essentially birthed an entirely new subgenre that would eventually spawn the likes of Fifa and NFL Street.

What made NBA Street so charming and different to what had come before it was how much more relatable it was for actual basketball fans. Making the decision to do away with the rules and glamour of NBA level basketball in favour of a simulation of the sport was like out on the streets.

As with the likes of Fifa and NFL Street that would eventually end up copying it, NBA Street's gameplay places more of an emphasis on players using their skills to bust out tricks and truly humiliate their opponents rather than flat out attempting to win the game.

The scoring system has also been completely redone for NBA Street, with two pointers now only worth one, three pointers only worth two and the scoreline only going up to 21 before a Streetball winner is called.
