10 Crazy Video Game Spin-Offs You Won't Believe Exist

8. Uncharted: Fight For Fortune

Typing Of The Dead
Sony Interactive Entertainment

Uncharted is a blockbuster action-adventure franchise featuring exotic locations, supernatural beasties, guns, car chases, explosions and despicable villains. So, of course, the natural progression of its formula was a card game. Duh!

Uncharted: Fight For Fortune is exactly that, a turn-based strategy with a coating of Uncharted makeup. Developed by Bend Studio - the team behind Uncharted: Golden Abyss - tactics and careful thought are required to succeed in this corner of the Uncharted-verse, rather than the shooting and punching that's useful everywhere else.

You need to choose cards that you think will stand the best chance against the ones the AI has pitted against you (for example, if the enemy card has six attack points, you need to choose a card with a strong defence), and it's genuinely quite satisfying to create combos, power up your cards, and watch the enemy deck completely fall to pieces with a well-choreographed attack.

It's a real treat for Uncharted fans too, with characters, sound effects, locations, treasures and creatures from the original PS3 trilogy all being included in some way, but on the other hand, seeing all that stuff just reminds you that you're not playing one of the far more exciting mainline adventures.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
