10 Creepy Video Game Easter Eggs You Can't Explain

3. Assassin's Creed 2 - The Kraken

You would assume that a game that adheres to the principle of having a degree of historical accuracy wouldn't be able to do anything crazy with its easter eggs. You would be wrong. Playing off the carnal fear of deep water, Ubisoft created one of the eeriest little secrets possible.

In one of the hidden assassin's tombs, you enter a room that is partially submerged in water. There is also a lever that activates the room's parkour challenge. By doing so and then looking over the edge and into the water, you'll be able to see a cutscene of a kraken/squid-like creature swimming by before ducking back into the water.

Repeat that, and a tentacle will lunge out of the water and attack you before disappearing entirely. It is incredibly spooky and makes swimming in said water absolutely stressful. If you aren't at least weirded out by the prospect of hidden monsters in deep water, then this will certainly bring you into the fold.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
