Once again Nintendo have proved that they are masters of horror. This time the terror can be found in the completely inconspicuous Pokémon X and Y games.

Despite the colourful characters, this beloved series is known for having a darker side when it comes to describing some of its more menacing Pokémon. But it’s rare that the series will include actual ghosts.

However, if you’ve had the displeasure of exploring an office building in the bustling Lumiose City you’ll likely have stumbled upon arguably the most unsettling encounter in any Pokémon game.

When exiting the elevator on the second floor, the lights will ominously flicker on and off as a girl appears behind you. Gliding in front of you, she’ll state that “No, you’re not the one” before leaving you be. The scene itself is strange enough, but the eerie silence that signals her appearance combined with the demonic sound of her speech is enough for the bravest of players to run straight back in the elevator.

Also found in a nearby hotel, who this girl is and who she’s looking for still remains a mystery amongst fans. Whatever the answers may be, they can’t be anything particularly pleasant.
