Had Dino Crisis not been made by Capcom, it would have been mocked everywhere as the biggest Resident Evil knock-off in the wide world of Resident Evil knock-offs. It really was little more than the original Resident Evil games with dinosaurs in place of zombies. Dino Crisis 2 is a completely different story. Instead of a survival horror, this is a pure arcade action title. Gone are the days of running away from velociraptors because you are out of bullets, and in are moments of shooting down waves of triceratops with a rocket launcher mini-gun. There are few games that take as much pleasure in providing the kind of over the top action that Dino Crisis 2 does, and the developers did a tremendous job of reinventing the base gameplay to accommodate a new, high-octane philosophy. This is one of the most ambitious gaming sequels ever released, and deserves a lot more love than it typically receives. Which game sequels are so completely overlooked, they need far more exposure?
