10 Criminally Underrated Video Game Sequels Nobody Played

8. BioShock 2

Unlike some of the other games on this list, it's not hard to see why BioShock 2 was overlooked. It was clear from the beginning that this wouldn't be the "proper" follow-up to BioShock, and elements like an unnecessary multiplayer mode had fans worried it might be a simple cash-in attempt. The truth is more complicated. While BioShock 2 isn't on the same level as BioShock or BioShock: Infinite, it is a surprisingly creative prequel to the original, that placed you in the role of Rapture's most memorable enemy, the Big Daddy. This new perspective not only helps to expand the already compelling universe of BioShock but proves to be interesting in its own right. Honestly, even the 'unnecessary multiplayer' is kind of fun. BioShock 2 might have found its audience if it released as DLC instead of a fully-fledged, full-priced sequel, but regardless, the game that we got deserves far more attention than it received.
