10 Cringeworthy Final Fantasy Moments

1. The Laughing Scene (X)

Cringelaughing If a Hollywood screenwriter even tried to pitch a script that involved the two lead characters forcing themselves to laugh for no discernible reason for a significant period of time, they'd most likely be blacklisted, if not shot. Somehow, however, the writers of Final Fantasy X saw fit to utilise their voice actors in such a scene a few hours into the game, as male lead Tidus convinces female lead Yuna to join him in several minutes of 'laughter' to lighten the mood as they prepare to depart a city on the next stage of their journey to stop the destructive Sin. The game was the first in the franchise to use voice actors, and whilst some of the cast put in competent performances (Matt McKenzie as Auron being the prime example), James Arnold Taylor (Tidus) and Hedy Burress (Yuna) rarely seem comfortable in their roles, though to be fair, with material such as a scene consisting solely of the words 'HA HA HA HA!' over and over, it's not hard to see why. The recent HD remake of the game may have greatly enhanced the graphics and the soundtrack may've been remastered, but the voiceovers were left untouched, meaning that this horrible moment will continue to live on in infamy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJotVinhXJ4
